Erindale Lock Experts

Much of our work is in older houses, where the doors have settled, the frames are not quite square and the hardware has been changed three or four times over the decades. We like these jobs. They ask for judgement rather than a catalogue number: how to fit a modern deadbolt to a door that was never drilled for one, how to keep a period handle while making the lock behind it dependable. Our technicians carry the shims, fillers and odd-sized parts these houses need, and they take the time to get the alignment right. The result is a door that closes with one hand and locks without a shove, which is what an old house deserves.

Shop rules

Practical locksmithing for real doors.

  1. You set the pace. We explain, you decide, we work. If you would rather sleep on a bigger change, we do what is needed now and leave the rest for another visit.
  2. The reasoning behind each suggestion. Every recommendation comes with the reason for it, in language that does not require you to know the trade. Ask why as often as you like.
  3. Order restored. Tools packed, dust cleared, doors closed properly. We leave your home or business looking as it did, with the lock problem gone.
  4. Open 24/7, same fees any hour. Start with a phone call.

On every job

  1. Rule of the job1 of 3

    Deciding what to replace

We look at the existing lock, the door thickness and the holes already drilled. Sometimes a new cylinder is enough; sometimes the whole lockset has earned its retirement.

  2. Rule of the job2 of 3

    Fitting the new hardware

The new lock goes in with the strike adjusted so the bolt throws fully. If the old holes need filling or enlarging, that is done neatly.

  3. Rule of the job3 of 3

    Checking fit and finish

We test the lock with the door open and closed, from both sides, check the key turns without effort and clean up the doorstep before leaving.

How a visit goes

For a business, a lock is really a question of who. Who holds a key, who left with one, who needs to get into the stockroom but not the office.

    Call and describe the door

Describe the property, the hardware and what has changed, and the visit starts from what you have seen.

    On our way
